Cannabis Almanac: 420 Events July 31- August 6

So you want to get your 420 on this week? From psychedelia to canna-meditations to THC hiking– the grass is looking very green in the cannabis world this week! Here’s a list of canna-centric events happening in SoCal that’ll immerse you in the blossoming, smoky community. Just remember: You must be at least 21-years-old (unless stated otherwise) and have a valid doctors recommendation if you attend events that involve using cannabis. Oh, and don’t medicate and drive!

Zanzibar Cannabis Market

Zanzibar Cannabis Market is a new weekly cannabis sesh launched for the patients of Los Angeles and surrounding areas, featuring some of California’s best cannabis companies showcasing their products for sample and purchase. The event is free for all Prop. 215 patients and pack your valid I.D. and doctor’s recommendation. If you don’t have one, though, you can get your doctor’s rec on site. Oh, and the first 100 patients to walk through the doors get a free gift!

Spare a Life Bowling: Presented by Canna Kids and Saving Sophie

Enjoy an evening of free bowling, raffles and hor d’ourves. Although the event is definitely catered more to the adult crowd, it’s purpose is to raise awareness and funds for CannaKids and Saving Sophie–two non-profits inspired by  Sophie Ryan, a little girl who developed a rare brain tumor and experienced success using cannabis as a treatment. Since it’s inception, CannaKids has worked with over 1,000 patients from ages 8 months to 85+ years old who are suffering from cancer, epilepsy, autism, Crohn’s disease, PTSD, severe pain disorders, and other serious diseases. After 8pm, the event transitions to 21-and-over.

Orange County Women Grow Meeting

The State of California recently announced changes to Prop.64, called the “Trailer Bill,” that’ll require many companies to reassess their plans regarding cannabis products and the market in 2018. Women Grow will host a panel of experts to educate the community, entrepreneurs and future business owners as to what they’ll be up against. Amy Jenkins, one of the top Sacramento cannabis lobbyists, will be on the panel discussing  what every cannabis business has to do to prepare for 2018. Josh Wurzer, the president and co-founder of SC Labs will share his knowledge about what edibles, topicals, tinctures, concentrates and flower need to have ready for testing in order to be compliant. Justin Beck of Irvine’s Cannabis Technologies, Inc. will also be on the panel discussing regulations and compliance.

Cannabis: Psychedelia’s Best Kept Secret

The Aware Project hosts a series of monthly psychedelic awareness salon events in SoCal. The goal is to create a connected and educated community that feels passionate about balancing the conversation about psychedelics. Though policies are moving towards regulating cannabis like alcohol, Thursday night’s meeting is about the power of using cannabis–plant medicine– as a healing modality. Blending the combination of setting and skill, Preston Lopez will unpack the hidden potential of cannabis to create powerfully healing experiences. His method integrates the non-ordinary state induced by Cannabis with mindfulness practices, somatic trauma release techniques, and shadow work to provide uniquely healing journeys and sustainable personal transformation.

Cannabis Calculation and Dosage Class

Irvine-based Culinary & Cannabis is hosting an event dedicated to proper dosing, you know, so you can have more than one bite of an edible without being beamed to Saturn. The hands- on class will go over how to use pre-made cannabis condiments such as: canna-butter cream, cannabis soy sauce, canna-butter, cannabis milk and cannabis seasonings–all of which provided by GanjaEats. The goal of the class is for everyone to learn the art of proper calculation in order to create decadent infused cuisine. Whether you’re a home chef or culinary royalty who wants to learn how to prepare elevated dishes– this is the place you want to be on Saturday.

CannaBliss and Mindfulness

Enjoy a night of connection, community, elevated yoga and a meditation class. There will be a 45 minute cannabis-enhanced yoga class followed by a seamless transition into a 30 minute elevated meditation. Complimentary flower and edibles will be provided for the practice, and there will be plenty of time before and after class to elevate, mingle, and get comfortable. A ticket reserves your space for the class. That said, arriving later than 7:15 will forfeit your space and walk-ins will have the opportunity to fill remaining spots. Must be at least 21 years old and have a doctors recommendation.

Cannabis + Yoga Class: Outdoors Sunset Class

Get your zen on while the sun settles for bed. Sunday’s sunset class consists of a 20 minute canna-ceremony, where everyone partakes in smoking a hybrid strain of flowers. An intention will be set with an ancient “herb mantra” and then flow into a 50 minute practice of easy yoga poses. Must be 21 years old and have a valid doctor’s recommendation.

When: Sunday, August 6 at 1pm
